Criminal Reform - The Criminon program

The Criminon program materials include The Way to Happiness booklet, a common-sense moral code that students soon find profoundly changes their lives for the better.

Yet the most eloquent advocates of the Narconon and Criminon programs are the prisoners themselves.

Jenny, arrested for drug possession, described the Criminon program as the turning point that “changed my life.” Today she is off drugs, taking care of her children and employed.

“The efficacy of Criminon has far surpassed even our most optimistic expectations. We have seen a significant increase in compliance with all terms and conditions of probation, restitution, fine payments and community service for those who have completed the program.”

— Judge of a Municipal Court Southern California

Michael, sentenced to 40 years in a state penitentiary, described himself as “a new man, a changed man, a man who wants to live my life productively and help others who are experiencing what I experienced in my past life. I give Criminon a big, big, big thank you for helping me to change my life and focusing on the good I can do now.”

Joseph, who while running with street gangs took another man’s life in anger, had made no improvement despite attempts to reform him using moral codes that told him what not to do, but never explained why it was wrong. “The Way to Happiness gives you the outcome of your actions,” he wrote of the booklet that is the bedrock of the Criminon program. “You understand the outcome of what you do.”

Rafael, who had cold-bloodedly shot a member of a rival gang, participated in the Criminon program while awaiting his trial. One step that profoundly changed him was learning to apply the precepts of The Way to Happiness in his life. “The Way to Happiness explains everything so you know how and why to live your life better,” he wrote afterwards. “I can control myself better, communicate better and act better.”

Criminon is active in a number of countries, including Australia, England, Hungary, Mexico, Italy, France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium and Russia. Its success stems directly from the intention to devise workable rehabilitation methods. L. Ron Hubbard extensively researched criminality until he found the actual source of what makes a criminal and from this point of truth he was able to develop effective solutions.
